CT Voices taps Shemitz as exec. dir.

Ellen Shemitz is the new executive director for statewide youth advocate Connecticut Voices for Children, effective Sept. 3.

A Connecticut native, Shemitz is former director of the Children’s Alliance of New Hampshire and the New Hampshire Association for Justice.

A graduate of Yale University and Yale Law School, Shemitz moved to New Hampshire in 1987 to clerk for the Honorable Hugh H. Bownes of the U.S. Court of Appeals. 

While in private practice, she represented children with special needs, and became a partner in the Manchester, N.H., law firm of Chamberlain & Shemitz.
