Linda A. Schwartz, the state commissioner of veterans affairs, has been nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as assistant secretary of veterans affairs for policy and planning for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the White House announced.
Schwartz was appointed in 2003.
U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal released a statement calling Schwartz “a champion of veterans and a national star.”
“As a member of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, I will work to ensure she is approved expeditiously and look forward to working closely with her in the future,” Blumenthal said.
