CT utilities to hold small ZREC meeting

Connecticut electric utilities United Illuminating in New Haven and Connecticut Light & Power in Berlin will hold an informational meeting Nov. 5 to discuss awarding $40 million in zero-emissions renewable energy credits for small projects.

The meeting will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 5 at the CL&P headquarters at 107 Selden St. in Berlin. No registration is required.

The small ZREC program is one portion of the state’s ZREC/LREC program designed to proliferate clean energy installations throughout Connecticut. Unlike the large and medium ZREC and LREC awards, the small program won’t be competitively bid and 15-year contracts to build renewable energy installations of 100 kilowatts or smaller will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

CL&P & UI have $2.64 million annually to award in the small ZREC program, with each contract lasting 15 years.

Prior to Nov. 5, the two companies will post a question-and-answer document on their respective Web sites about the program. Visit www.cl-p.com and click on Going Green and then Renewable Energy Credits, or visit www.uinet.com/powerprocurement.
