CT unemployment second highest in New England

Connecticut’s April unemployment rate of 6.9 percent was the second highest in New England, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

New England’s unemployment rate for the month was 6.1 percent, down from 7 percent in April 2013.

At 8.3 percent, Rhode Island continues to have the highest unemployment rate, down from 9.5 percent a year ago. Connecticut’s rate was down year over year from 7.8 percent. That was followed by Massachusetts at 6 percent, Maine at 5.7 percent, New Hampshire at 4.4 percent and Vermont at 3.3 percent.
