Connecticut has launched a free rewards program that lets residents and visitors earn points for exploring the state and redeem them for branded merchandise and exclusive experiences.
The Connecticut Office of Statewide Marketing & Tourism announced the program, called Perks & Recreation, on Thursday.
It allows users to receive a “Rec List” of activities to try each month, such as visiting a museum or beach, sharing a photo of a local landmark or naming their favorite slice of apizza.
Each completed action earns points, and new prompts are added regularly.
Points can be redeemed for Connecticut-branded merchandise or experiences not available to the general public. Among the offerings are an insider’s tour of state government with Gov. Ned Lamont, a “Tide to Table” dinner with James Beard Award-winning chef David Standridge, a guided on-track driving experience at Lime Rock Park, a behind-the-scenes “All Access” package at Mohegan Sun, an artisanal cheese tour at Arethusa Farm and a curated overnight stay in New Haven.
The program also includes a companion podcast hosted by West Hartford-based voice actor Amanda Elgie that spotlights destinations and local voices across the state. Listeners earn points for tuning in.
“We wanted to create a way for residents to not just live in Connecticut, but to truly experience everything our state has to offer,” said Morgan Nyerick, creative director at the tourism office. “Perks & Recreation is about celebrating that local pride. Whether you’re visiting a favorite hiking trail or discovering a new local eatery, you’re earning points that connect you more deeply to our community.”
