CT third highest costs for auto repairs

A trip to your local mechanic is going to cost you more in Connecticut than anywhere else in the country, except in Alaska and Michigan.

A new study says the average cost of three common auto repairs (water pump, alternator and brake pad replacements) on three popular car models (2010 Ford F-150, 2010 Honda Accord, and 2010 BMW 328i) in Connecticut is $1,271. That’s compared to the national average of $1,176.

According to the RepairPal Institute, the research and data science division of RepairPal.com, two other New England states make the list of the top six most expensive: Massachusetts in fourth at $1,246; and New Hampshire in sixth at $1,225. Maine, at $1,125, is the seventh least expensive state in the U.S., and best in New England.

West Virginia was the most affordable state at $1,033.
