Steve Campo, founder and executive director of TheaterWorks in downtown Hartford, has quit to focus on his health, authorities say.
TheaterWorks President Michael G. Albano said the board plans an immediate search for a successor.
Campo, who founded TheaterWorks, 233 Pearl St., in 1985, had been on medical leave since December, officials said. His ailment was not detailed.
Rob Ruggiero continues as the theater’s interim artistic director.
