Connecticut has agreed to a tentative new contract with the state police union that boosts troopers’ and investigators’ base pay 9 percent over the next three years, authorities say.
Members of the Connecticut State Police Union must ratify the new pact, which also must be approved by state lawmakers, the state Office of Policy and Management (OPM) said Wednesday.
The value of the future contract had not yet been calculated as of Wednesday, an OPM spokesman said. The current pact expires June 30.
As of March 11, the state says it counted 1,073 state police officers on active duty or on paid or unpaid leave.
The basic terms are:
- A 3 percent general wage increase, effective July 1.
- A 2 percent hike, effective with the payroll period that includes July 1, 2016.
- A 1 percent increase, effective with the payroll period that includes Jan. 1, 2017.
- A 2 percent raise in base pay, effective with the payroll period that includes July 1, 2017.
- A 1 percent general wage increase effective with the payroll period that includes Jan. 1, 2018.
- Eligible employees shall continue to receive annual increments (step increases) in accordance with existing practice.
- Employees hired after July 1, 2015 are ineligible for longevity payments.
- Differentials, meal or cleaning allowances, or any other funds or fees during the term of the agreement are unchanged.
