The growth in employment among Connecticut companies with 20 or fewer employees was 0.05 percent in June, well below the national average, according to California tax software company Intuit.
Intuit’s Small Business Index showed the average increase small business employment growth in the nation was 0.13 percent in June, led by states like Alabama, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, South Carolina and Virginia.
Connecticut’s 0.05 percent growth was tied for 28th in the nation. Ten states showed no growth in the index, and Michigan was the worst with a 0.2 percent small business employment decline.
