Seven shoreline fire departments are collecting $748,896 in federal funds to upgrade their radio-dispatch equipment, authorities say.
The funds are from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants program, according to the office of Congressman Joe Courtney.
The seven are: Poquonnock Bridge, City of Groton, Center of Groton, Old Mystic, Mystic, Noank and Groton Long Point. The improvements will cover all of Groton and parts of Stonington.
