Groton-New London Airport won a $6 million federal aviation grant to install a system for stopping airplanes that overshoot its runway, authorities said.
Congressman Joe Courtney’s office announced Wednesday the forthcoming Federal Aviation Administration grant.
The airport will purchase arrestor beds made of lightweight, concrete blocks system and install them at both ends of Runway 5-23, Courtney said.
No details were immediately available on the timetable or what contractor will supply and install the arrestor system.
