Gov. M. Jodi Rell on Monday announced a one-week extension for Connecticut businesses that were victims of last week’s round of rainstorms and flooding to file and pay required routine end-of-the-month business taxes.
Rell said affected businesses have until Friday to pay collected sales tax, withholding taxes and business taxes penalty free that were due March 29 and April 1.
Taxpayers who receive delinquent notices for those dates should write “New England Flooding” in large print across the top of their notices before mailing them in the return envelope provided.
Following damaging rainstorms early last month, the state Department of Revenue Services extended the March 15 deadline to April 1 for regular and Subchapter S corporations to file tax returns with the state.
The state has asked the IRS to agree to a similar time extension.
