A Farmington-based healthcare analytics startup founded by serial entrepreneur Bill Moschella has been sold to a Massachusetts company for $52 million.
Framingham-based Definitive Healthcare this week announced its acquisition of Populi, which offers healthcare data analytics as a subscription service.
Definitive Healthcare, which describes itself as a provider of “commercial intelligence,” is also a medical analytics company.
Populi monitors millions of medical practitioners and healthcare organizations, capturing various data points, including referrals, procedures, costs, outcomes, etc. It uses that data and artificial intelligence to help its customers, including hospitals, project procedure trends and highlight geographic opportunities to serve new markets.
Populi was Moschella’s seventh startup. He’s perhaps best known for Evariant, a healthcare consumer and physician engagement firm that was acquired by Healthgrades (now Mercury Healthcare).
