CT sends 6 athletes to Tokyo to compete in Olympics, Paralympics

Gov. Ned Lamont and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz congratulated Connecticut athletes headed to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

In a statement, Lamont praised the five athletes who will compete in this summer’s Olympics and one athlete competing in the Paralympics, saying he’ll be cheering for them.

“It takes a strong will to make it as far as they have, and their commitment to excellence makes them great role models for so many young athletes,” Lamont said. “I can guarantee that there will be a strong contingent of us back home in Connecticut who will be cheering them on.”

The Opening ceremony for the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo is scheduled for Friday.
