CT seeks $14M in snow-disaster relief

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is asking President Barack Obama to declare a federal disaster that would make more than $14 million eligible for cities and towns for a mid-January storm that dumped more than two feet of snow, The Associated Press reports.

Malloy said Tuesday that expenses and snowfall amounts met thresholds established by federal and state emergency officials. Scores of roofs — many on farms — and buildings collapsed due to record-breaking back-to-back storms last month.
