CT salutes with one-stop ‘veterans.ct.gov’ site

Connecticut launched on the eve of Veteran’s Day a new website that gives military veterans one-stop access to available services and benefits from state and federal agencies.

The website – veterans.ct.gov – links veterans and their families to other agencies offering such services as employment and job training, health care and education.

The governor and lieutenant governor announced the homepage Friday at Tunxis Community College’s Veterans Oasis Center in Farmington, a dedicated campus space for veterans and active-duty service members to study, network and socialize.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman also announced Friday tcreation of the 14-member Governor’s Veterans Cabinet, which they will co-chair.

The cabinet,composed of relevant agency commissioners and other executive branch representatives, will meet periodically to report progress and create strategies to improve delivery of services to veterans and their families, officials said. The cabinet also will seek input from veterans and private military-support organizations.
