CT roads congested, deficient

Connecticut has the 10th worst road traffic in the country, thanks to lackluster government spending on improvements and congested urban roads.

Among the 50 states surveyed by the Reason Foundation for 2008, Connecticut has the fifth most congested urban roads and the seventh most deficient bridges. The state government ranks 41st in total spending on road improvement and 46th on spending per mile.

Overall, Connecticut traffic ranks 41st in the nation, slipping down from No. 37 last year. This is an improvement from 2000, when Connecticut had the fifth worst traffic in the nation.

The Reason Foundation promotes libertarian principals through a variety of public policy research initiatives.
