CT residents seek sunny skies of Florida, ‘Move Meter’ says

The most popular state Connecticut residents are looking to move to is Florida, part of a nationwide trend of people seeking to relocate to warmer temperatures, according to Coldwell Banker’s “Move Meter.”

Nationwide, one out of seven of all Move Meters searches were for the Sunshine State. The top-searched city among Connecticut residents was Charleston, S.C.

According to Coldwell Banker, 82% of all Move Meter searches nationally were for locations outside of the person’s current state.

New Yorkers displayed a similar desire to leave their home state, with searches for Florida representing 20% of the total. Miami, Jacksonville and Sarasota were the three most popular cities, according to Coldwell Banker.

Coldwell Banker said the data shows that 60% more people sought to move out of New York compared with those looking to move to the Empire State.                                                                                                                     

Massachusetts had the greatest proportion of searchers considering staying in-state, with 40% of those from Massachusetts looking to stay there.

Nationally, Austin, Texas, was the most-searched destination to move, with 46% more searches than the next closest destination, according to the report.
