When it comes to Connecticut residents’ biggest perceived financial challenge, planning for retirement rises to the top of the list, according to a survey by financial advice and service referral website GOBankingrates.
Connecticut and more than half of U.S. states, including Massachusetts and Vermont, chose retirement planning over other challenges, including sticking to a budget, paying for college and paying off credit card debt.
Older Americans, particularly baby boomers ages 55 to 64, were particularly likely to be worried about retirement, the survey said. Connecticut has one of the oldest populations in the country. There are approximately 247,000 state residents who will turn 65 in the next 15 years, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The Internet survey, conducted in July, had more than 10,000 responses.
