CT renews emergency notification contract

Connecticut officials have renewed and extended the state’s contract with Massachusetts-based Everbridge to provide emergency notifications to state residents and institutions.

The notification system, known as CT Alert, provides information to hospitals, emergency responders, businesses and residents about emergencies and other events.

This will be Everbridge’s sixth year under contract with Connecticut. The latest version is valued at $876,461, according to the state Department of Emergency Services.

The company said it’s hoping to convince more residents to opt in to receive text message alerts on their cell phones. For example, it’s software allows residents to text a keyword to receive notices about specific events.
