Connecticut utility regulators have confirmed their decision to reduce a $1.12 million fine issued against AT&T for failing to meet state standards for land-line phone repairs, The Associated Press reports.
The Department of Public Utility Control issued a final decision Wednesday in which it fined the company $745,000. The DPUC first announced the reduced fine last month.
A DPUC spokesman said the reduction represents the amount the company has spent to improve service response times, as well as rebates to customers affected by repair delays.
AT&T says it will contest the fine.
The fine resulted from an investigation that found AT&T failed to meet service standards for repairs on land-line phones every month from 2001 to 2009. The standards require repairs to at least 90 percent of reported problems within 24 hours.
