The number of COVID-19-related hospitalizations and deaths continued to rise Wednesday, as Gov. Ned Lamont broadened the use of telehealth services to help residents avoid going to public offices.
There were 23 more patients hospitalized with the coronavirus and 121 more COVID-19-related deaths in Connecticut, bringing the statewide totals to 1,972 and 1,544, respectively, the governor’s office said.
Overall, 22,469 residents have tested positive for the virus.
Hartford County has 4,128 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, 495 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 hospitalizations and 442 coronavirus-related deaths, according to the governor’s office.
Things to know: Vets can telehealth
As more people use telehealth services to avoid doctor’s and other public offices, Gov. Lamont Wednesday broadened the types of providers who can use the service.
Lamont signed an executive order allowing any licensed dentist, behavioral analyst, genetic counselor, music therapist, art therapist and veterinarian to use telehealth services.
He also gave physician assistants and advanced practice registered nurses more leeway by temporarily suspending supervision restrictions for both types of providers.
