The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $22.6 million in Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grants to Waterbury and eastern Connecticut projects.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation received $8.2 million to link Connecticut to the modern national freight network and fully develop the state-owned deep water port in New London.
The city of Waterbury received $14.4 million for the Waterbury Train Station, building upon state and federal investments in the area in order to improve the livability of the city.
Connecticut has received $53 million in TIGER grants since 2011 for various transportation projects, including for Hartford’s Intermodal Transportation Triangle between Main Street and Camden Union Station.
