The percentage of cash buyers for Connecticut homes was higher in August compared to a year ago, according to CoreLogic.
Of all homebuyers that month, 31 percent paid in cash, up from 28.6 percent in Aug. 2013.
Though the percentage was up year over year, it has been falling since the start of this year. In January, 38 percent of buyers paid in cash, CoreLogic said.
The percentage of cash buyers is also falling across the country, after peaking at more than 46 percent in 2011. In August, 34 percent of homebuyers paid cash, down from 41.2 percent in January and 36.4 percent a year ago.
Connecticut’s foreclosure inventory is the sixth-highest in the country, Corelogic said last month.
