CT realty closing costs decline on average

Home-sale closing costs have come down in Connecticut over the past year, but they rose relative to other states, TheDay.com reports, citing a study by Bankrate.com.

Closing costs declined 4 percent in the state, while dropping 7 percent nationally over the past year, the New London paper reports on its homepage. Last year, Connecticut had been ranked 32nd for closing costs among all states, but this year its ranking rose to 26th.

Closing costs averaged $3,702 in Connecticut this year. The national average was $3,754.

New York’s closing costs of $5,435 were highest nationally, while the cheapest place to close on a mortgage was Missouri, with costs just over $3,000.
