CT puts $350K more into SAMI patient-data portal

Westport’s MyCare Inc. raised another $750,000 from investors –- half of it from the state — to continue refining its data portal that gives doctors and other care providers real-time access to patient medical information, authorities say.

Connecticut Innovations Inc., the state’s quasi-public technology investment arm, announced Tuesday it injected another $375,000 into MyCare, on top of the $500,000 staked in the first earlier this year.

MyCare’s other major investor, Intersection Health put up the other $375,000, officials said.

In mid-September, the 383–bed Bridgeport Hospital announced it would be the first hospital to use MyCare’s Smart Access to Medical Information (SAMI) portal developed by Intersection Health Partners LLC. MyCare does business as SAMI Health.

SAMI is accessible via desk-top computers and wireless devices such as iPads or iPhones, officials said Tuesday.

SAMI was developed in a joint venture between the hospital and Intersection Health, which recently announced that Yale-New Hospital and Greenwich Hospital are in the process of implementing the portal.

Other unidentified U.S. hospitals also are working on incorporating SAMI into their systems, it said.
