CT promoter WWE tag teams with Kmart

Stamford live-action promoter World Wrestling Entertainment and Kmart have signed a deal in which the discount retailer will be a key sponsor of WWE’s live and pay-per-view events in the U.S. in 2011.

The deal announced Tuesday includes exclusive sponsor rights for some 250 WWE live events domestically, including its flagship WrestleMania events, along with its live TV episodes of “Monday Night Raw” and “Friday Night Smackdown.”

Financial terms were not revealed.

Kmart, of Troy, Mich., whose major investor is Greenwich financier Edward L. Lampert, also gains, among other things, WWE tie-ins with online sweepstakes and certain WWE stars will make in-store appearances at select Kmart locations.
