Gross job gains at new or expanding private-sector employers in Connecticut totaled 70,949 in the first three months of 2013, while there were 72,020 gross job losses at closing or contracting employers, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics announced.
The seasonally adjusted totals amount to a net change in employment of 1,071 for the quarter.
Job gains were down 7.8 percent from 76,984 in the first quarter of 2012, while job losses were up 6 percent from 67,975.
