Weather forecasters expect light snow to begin Friday morning and heavier snow to start falling by mid-afternoon. Blizzard conditions with the heaviest snow and wind gusts of up to 60 mph are expected Friday evening into Saturday morning.
More than 800 state and private contractor snow plows are ready to hit the roads.

Power company crews are preparing to restore electricity outages.
Many flights are cancelled. Transit systems say rail and bus services could be forced to shut down by the evening.
