Independent power company NRG Energy, which owns four Connecticut electric power plants, said Tuesday that it has completed the purchase of the South Trent wind farm near Sweetwater, Texas, as reported by the Associated Press.
Terms were not disclosed.
The 101-megawatt site, which came online in January 2009, is capable of powering more than 80,000 homes when the wind farm is operating at maximum capacity.
The deal was announced in March and approved by the Public Utility Commission of Texas last Friday. AEP Energy Partners has a 20-year agreement to buy the generation from the site.
The farm is the fourth plant in NRG’s onshore wind portfolio.
