Hartford and Fairfield counties led the state with the highest climb in average salaries in 2010, federal data shows.
Fairfield County led with a 3.1 percent increase to $40,842, with Hartford County close behind with a 2.7 percent gain to $37,243, according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
New Haven County posted a 0.7 percent rise, to $22,715, the BEA said.
Theirs were among the five fastest growing average salaries among counties in New England, the bureau said.The others were Massachusetts’ Middlesex and Suffolk counties.
Nationally, Compensation increased in 2,480 U.S. counties and declined in 633 others in 2010, as the average annual compensation per job increased 2.7 percent to $58,451, the agency said.
