CT orthopedic group appoints new CEO

A Stamford-based orthopedic group has appointed a physician and healthcare executive as its new CEO.

Spire Orthopedic Partners has named Dr. Shaden Marzouk to the role, replacing interim CEO Robert Cucuel. Founding member Christopher Fusco stepped down in February after serving as CEO since December 2022, according to the company and Fusco’s LinkedIn profile.

Marzouk most recently served as CEO of GenesisCare and previously was president and CEO of Care Delivery at Anthem, now known as Elevance Health. She has also held senior leadership roles at AXA and Cardinal Health.

She began her career as a neurosurgeon and served as a major in the U.S. Army. Marzouk holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, a medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She also serves on multiple boards and advises companies focused on artificial intelligence and health technology.
