It’s official: Infinity Music Hall and Bistro is bringing a 600-seat live music-dining venue to downtown Hartford’s Front Street development and the state is footing $1.3 million of the buildout costs, authorities say.
Infinity Music President Dan Hincks and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Wednesday that Hartford will be home to its second music hall in the state.
The newest hall will seat 500 for shows and 100 for dining when it opens in late 2013, Hincks said.
The original 300-seat venue in Norfolk has hosted more than 900 shows and more than 100,000 customers since opening in 2008, he said.
“Infinity Music Hall will be a great addition to our capital city, one that will complement the other top-notch entertainment venues,” Malloy said in a statement.
The funding would come through the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), the organization responsible for attracting new economic opportunities in the region, officials said.
The State Bond Commission is scheduled to vote Oct. 3 on the funding.
In June, the commission voted $1.5 million to developer HB Nitkin Group toward infrastructure improvements and other associated expenses for the second phase of the Front Street development.
Infinity will join another Front Street tenant, Spotlight Theatres, which is opening a movie theater in February.
