The state is creating a $1.5 million low interest loan program to help homeowners make repairs and replace appliances damaged in this week’s massive flooding.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell said Friday the program will become available starting the week of April 5. Information will be posted on the governor’s Web site.
The loans, offered at a 2 percent rate, will cover repairs to basements, foundations, roofs and insulation. The loans will also cover the purchase of appliances such as furnaces and hot water heaters damaged from basement flooding.
There will be limits on the loans. Also, applicants must provide verifiable proof that the damage occurred during these recent floods. Homeowners are urged to take photos and videos, and to keep detailed notes and measurements.
