Connecticut’s share of a $40.1 million settlement with California medical company CareFusion is $78,000, Attorney General George Jepsen and others announced.
The settlement resolves allegations that CareFusion engaged in unlawful marketing practices in promoting its surgical preparation product Chloraprep.
The state’s Medicaid program was billed for the product, according to legal documents.
The states involved in the complaint alleged that the company promoted the antiseptic product for off-label uses and paid illegal kickbacks to a physician to promote the use of the product among other doctors.
