The Connecticut Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge has launched a new interactive Web site and mobile technology to help participants meet their energy efficiency goals.
The challenge calls for residents of 14 towns to reduce their energy usage by 20 percent through efficiency measures. Each community earns points toward rewards based on how its overall energy consumption drops. The communities are Bethany, Cheshire, East Haddam, East Hampton, Glastonbury, Lebanon, Mansfield, Portland, Ridgefield, Weston, Westport, Wethersfield, Wilton and Windham.
The Web site and the mobile technology allows the residents to figure out how to make their homes less drafty and more energy efficient. The features include diagnostic tools and personalized Web pages.
The Neighbor to Neighbor Challenge is funded by a $4.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.
