Westport-based Connoisseur Media has agreed to purchase a media company based in Portland, Oregon that owns more than 200 radio stations in 44 markets across the country.
Connoisseur, which owns 11 radio stations in Connecticut and New York and digital marketing services firm Ferocious Digital, did not disclose the deal’s financial terms. The transaction is subject to Federal Communications Commission approval and expected to close in the second half of 2025.
If the deal is approved, Connoisseur would own 218 radio stations nationwide. The combined company would keep the Connoisseur name under Connoisseur CEO Jeff Warshaw.
States in which Alpha Media has radio stations include, among others, Alaska, California, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and Virginia.
“This transaction underscores our commitment to the irreplaceable role local broadcasters play in providing news, information and entertainment that truly resonates,” Warshaw said. “Together, we will build an industry-leading platform of broadcast and digital.”
Before the deal is finalized, Connoisseur and Alpha have entered into a local marketing agreement, in which Connoisseur will operate Alpha’s radio stations under a lease contract.
