CT marine facilities awarded $1.2 million by Clean Vessel Act Grant

The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection awarded 36 marine facilities $1.2 million in funding this year from the Clean Vessel Act Grant program.

The program aims to improve water quality in Connecticut’s navigable waterways by providing funds to increase the availability of pumpouts for proper waste disposal.

Three of the grant recipients will receive funding for the construction of new pumpouts, and two more pumpout vessels will be purchased to improve sewage removal, all in Bridgeport Harbor and Stamford Harbor.

The Connecticut and New York sides of the Long Island Sound are designated as a no-discharge area due to the success of the CVA Grant Program in getting sufficient discharge facilities built.
