The manufacturer will support aging Navy night vision test equipment as replacement parts become harder to find.
A Stamford manufacturer has been awarded a U.S. Navy contract worth up to $10 million to upgrade and maintain portable night vision testing equipment.
Hoffman Engineering LLC will provide replacement parts, repairs, calibration and upgrades for older computerized field test sets used to diagnose night vision equipment, according to the U.S. Department of War. The Navy said the work will address increasingly frequent repairs and the dwindling availability of replacement parts for older models.
Work will be performed in Stamford and is expected to be completed in August 2031, according to the War Department. The contract was awarded without competition. No funding was committed at the time of the award; money will be allocated as individual orders are issued.
Founded in 1955, Hoffman Engineering manufactures and tests lighting and photometric equipment for aerospace, military and other applications, according to its website. Private investment firm Branford Castle Partners acquired the company in October 2024 from previous owner Trident.
