CT manufacturer American Design & Manufacturing acquired by Ohio-based company

A South Windsor manufacturing company has been acquired by an Ohio-based industrial filtration and fluid-systems firm, the companies announced Wednesday.

American Design & Manufacturing, which designs and builds customized skid systems, test rigs and pipe, valve and fitting fabrications, was purchased by The Hellan Strainer Co.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

As part of the deal, American Design will operate under a new name, American Denco Manufacturing USA LLC, reflecting its integration into Hellan’s existing operations. The business will continue operating at its South Windsor facility with its current 30-person workforce and management team, according to the companies.

Dan Jordan, vice president and general manager of the Connecticut operation, said the acquisition is expected to support growth in existing markets and allow the company to expand into new ones.

Hellan Strainer, headquartered in Cleveland, said the acquisition strengthens its engineering and fabrication capabilities, particularly in power generation, aerospace testing and critical piping systems. The company operates manufacturing businesses in the United States and the United Kingdom and employs more than 300 workers globally.

American Design & Manufacturing serves customers involved in power supply, ground support equipment and industrial testing applications.
