For the second time in two days, the state authority that promotes development of early-stage technologies is betting on what it considers another promising newcomer.
Connecticut Innovations announced Wednesday a $475,000 investment in FMP Products Inc. in New Milford.
FMP is developing laboratory automation equipment and software to improve research productivity.
Its equipment allows researchers to harvest specimens, such as protein crystals, that are 20 times smaller than a human hair and analyze them using three-dimensional video imaging.
FMP also is working on a new line of automated liquid handlers for the diagnostic markets, said Tom Friedlander, president and co-founder.
Typical with all of investments, CI gains a seat on FMP’s board of directors.
Tuesday, CI announced that it put up half the $700,000 raised by Metagenomix Inc., a Branford bioscience startup that is harvesting for medical use the chemical compounds produced by soil microbes.
