Danbury-based MannKind Corp., a manufacturer of inhalers designed to treat endocrine and orphan lung diseases, has agreed to acquire a Massachusetts company that makes products that address heart and kidney ailments in a deal valued at $360 million.
Publicly traded MannKind Corp. said Monday it has reached a deal to purchase scPharmaceuticals Inc. as part of “a strategic expansion into cardiorenal medicine.”
ScPharmaceutical is a Burlington, Mass.-based drugmaker whose lead Food and Drug Administration-approved product lets heart failure patients administer hospital-grade diuretics at home to prevent fluid overload that can lead to a hospital visit.
ScPharmaceuticals said it reported net sales of $27.8 million through June, nearly doubling from a year earlier, as the company expanded its sales force and pushed further into kidney-care medicines. MannKind said scPharmaceuticals plans to file a supplemental new drug application with the FDA for its Furoscix ReadyFlow autoinjector in the third quarter.

MannKind and investment management firm Blackstone amended their recently announced financing agreement to provide $175 million of additional funding to support the deal, the companies said.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions, the companies said.
