Connecticut’s coffers received more money from the lottery in fiscal year 2013 than from casinos, marking a 15-year shift, the Associated Press reports.
The AP requested data from the state Department of Consumer Protection’s gaming division, which provided an advance look at the lottery’s fiscal year 2013 revenue, showing an increase for the fourth consecutive year in a row.
The Connecticut Lottery Corp. transferred $312.1 million to the general fund in the year ending June 30, the AP reported. That outpaced the just over $296 million contributed by Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, the state reported last month.
It was the first time since 1998 that the lottery generated more state revenue than the casinos, according to the AP.
Casino revenue has been declining since 2007.
