Starting Jan. 31, Connecticut lottery players can buy tickets for the multi-state Mega Millions jackpot.
CT Lottery board voted this week to add Mega Millions to its roster of lottery and scratch-ticket offerings, including CT Lotto and Powerball.
The board vote follows an agreement in principle reached among the 45 U.S. lottery organizations in October to allow for the cross-selling of the Powerball and Mega Millions games among all jurisdictions.
Previously, Mega Millions fans had to travel to Massachusetts or other participating states to buy tickets.
“Mega Millions national popularity is tremendous, we are excited to now have the opportunity to offer it locally, at all CT Lottery retailers,” said CT Lottery President and CEO Anne M. Noble.Â
Powerball’s largest jackpot ever was $365 million won in 2006. Mega Millions holds the record for the world’s largest jackpot, at $390 million in March 2007.
