Connecticut lawmakers are returning to the state Capitol later today to try to finish the last remaining budget bills.
The House and Senate are scheduled to resume a special session this afternoon.
They’ve been trying for a couple weeks to finish several remaining bills that spell out the details of the new, two-year $37.6 billion budget, but have been unable to reach agreement on the language.
This latest special session comes a day after state Comptroller Nancy Wyman warned Gov. M. Jodi Rell that the new tax and spending plan could already be $500 million in deficit if state tax collections continue to fall.
Republicans say lawmakers should be making more spending cuts. (AP)
