CT lawmakers not planning veto overrides

Democratic leaders of the state legislature say they have no plans to override of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s vetos, the Associated Press reports.

Both the House of Representatives and Senate have veto sessions scheduled for today, but House Speaker Brendan Sharkey and House Majority Leader Joseph Aresimowicz sent a message to House Democrats saying no votes would be taken, the AP said.

As of July 12, Malloy had vetoed eight bills and signed 327 into law, according to the AP.

One bill Malloy vetoed in the face of opposition from environmental groups could have led to all-terrain vehicles being permitted on state-owned land.
