The state Department of Labor has launched a new website to provide employment information to workers in their teens and early 20s.
The site offers information on laws, regulations, training programs, statistical data and local news and events. Other topics include prohibited jobs for workers under 18, time and hour restrictions for workers aged 16 and 17, and permitted jobs for workers aged 14 and 15.
“Young workers between the ages of 15 and 24 have approximately twice the rate of non-fatal injuries as older workers and if we can prevent one young worker injury as a result of this website, then we feel as if our mission has been accomplished,” Deborah Pease, a DPH employee who drove the creation of the site, said in a statement.
