CT launches nonprofit grant pool

A new state-run nonprofit grant program will allocate bonds specifically for health and humans services nonprofits, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s office announced.

The grant pool, which is authorized by the legislature to be as big as $20 million, will help nonprofit providers who provide contracted services with state agencies, the state said.

The state office of Policy and Management has review and approval authority over the grants, which are meant to fund small and large infrastructure projects, such as energy system upgrades, compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, IT projects, vehicle purchases and the electronic medical record systems.

The program will have a rolling application process comparable to the state’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) municipal bonding program. OPM will prioritize projects under $1 million.
