Governor Dannel P. Malloy has announced Connecticut’s first energy efficiency project financed though the Commercial & Industrial Property Assessed Clean Energy Program, or C-PACE.
The $285,000 project in the shopping plaza at 542 Westport Avenue in Norwalk upgraded the buildings lighting, and is expected to save $17,500 per year in electricity costs.
The owners also plan to install a 100-kilowatt solar system on this site using C-PACE.
The C-PACE program is a new tool that allows property owners to finance efficiency upgrades with little or no upfront costs and re-pay the loan over time on their property tax bill.
