State energy regulators on Monday announced the launch of Connecticut’s new electric vehicle charger incentives program, an effort designed to speed up the deployment of charging technology and ease the adoption of EVs.
The initiative, which is open to all customers of Eversource Energy and United Illuminating, provides rebates of up to $500 for new, eligible Level 2 “smart” chargers and associated home wiring upgrades for residential end users. Residential customers are also eligible for additional performance incentives paid out over time for participating in a managed charging program, up to $200 annually.
Customers who previously installed a Level 2 charger, or equipment that does not meet program eligibility criteria, may still be eligible for a $100 upfront incentive for enrolling in the managed charging program.
Other incentives are available for commercial and industrial users, and owners of multi-unit buildings.
Eversource and UI will host a series of webinars to provide details and answer questions; they will take place Feb. 23; March 16, 22 and 31; April 6 and 28.
